Swirls of Water Lilies
by John Tillman
(01/31/07)
Plum juice spills
Americana sweetness
in my mouth;
a palette of gelatinous
petals at the pond's surface.
She dips her brush in her
watercolored soul, and under a
lemon-yellow moon offers
chamomile kisses.
With Monet eyes, she
paints swirls of water lilies
blue wine-soaked hair
fragrance distills.
Skin, parasoled lace-
my eyes closed to the light.
Fingers tiptoe across
her soft, supple breasts,
as twilight suffuses a thin
blouse rumpled on the edge
of a pond. The water lilies
shake their tops, looking on.
