Agon
by Sophie Reicher
(03/26/08)
If I could,
I would carve myself into your flesh.
I would secret myself away beneath your skin.
I would ride the rushing currents of your blood-tide
and curl myself safely hidden
in the spaces between your bones.
How else can I ever hope
to sate this terrible hunger?
My body aches to be devoured by you,
filled by you,
owned by you.
There is no release
even when I come
tumbling into your arms.
So breathe me in.
Steal the gasping breath from my lips
with yours.
Use me up
until my body begs for more,
then use me up again.
In the weeping, trembling aftermath of our pleasure
my body will thank you.
And when you have gone
I will make offerings of thanks
beneath the glittering gaze of the black-eyed moon
who knows everyone's secrets.
