Our Weekend
by Dara Prisamt Murray
(10/15/03)
The heat of our loving
burned the pages
off the calendar
as our hard and heavy breathing
hastened the hands
of the clock,
we devoured
our short hours
of being together
ravenously eating love-words
and licking bodies
free of tears.
Too soon
reality
bit into us,
and the vulture
carried me in its stomach
and spat me out in New York.
