Chewed Gum
by Joe Fusco Jr.
(03/24/04)
There's chewed gum by the wastebasket
in the bathroom and
It reminds me of you.
Just a small piece,
Soft and pink with
Plenty of juice remaining.
I pick it up gently and rub its
moist exterior.
It really should be in
Someone's mouth.
I put it in my pants' pocket
Knowing it will slowly harden,
Saving it for a rainy day.
