I believe that the material world is essentially metaphorical in nature, that there are concepts related to the spirit, and therefore abstract and allusive, which are illustrated in a very efficient way through the symbolism found in the more readily accessible workings of the physical world. So everything that we touch, see, or feel has the potential to be spiritually enlightening. That includes the experience of marital and sexual intimacy.

What I hope to investigate (and it is an ongoing investigation) with these images is, simultaneously, the specificity of the symbol itself, as well as that for which it stands - namely the nature of the process of the individual spirit coming into union with the Divine.

To the extent possible, I hope to achieve a balance of honesty in the treatment of both the physical and the metaphysical natures of the erotic endeavor.
