Georgie Tier is at heart an illustrator, who is happiest with her pencil. The canvases she paints are carefully drawn first, and her primary concern is with the linear design: how positive and negative shapes interact. Colour is her final consideration, and it is used purely to balance the design. Her personal favourites are the small black and white vignettes, single scenes of lust and love, which she sometimes develops into larger paintings. She works from a female perspective, with a strong 'Girls On Top' theme. She has been influenced to some extent by Picasso, a love of Japanese prints, and Aubrey Beardsley’s linear lyricism.
