I had a lover for many years who I visited frequently, and after while I noticed that she always had a long-necked beer bottle beside her bed. I also knew that she only occasionally drank beer when we were together.

One day I asked her if she drank beer before bed. Her reply was, "No, but a long-necked beer bottle is the best dildo I've ever found." The next day we shot a roll of film of her and her bottle, and eventually this image entered my painting lexicon. Whenever I empty an interesting bottle, I save it for use in future paintings.

The safety issue is solved in my photo shoots by having the bottle plugged with a cut-off wine cork. Using an open bottle can cause a vacuum to form, and this is unsafe unless the woman understands how to get it free. You need to push sideways to release the pressure, not pull.
