Growing Pains and Growth Spurts

Mary Anne Mohanraj, Editor-in-Chief

We've been a bit slow in letting you know about changes here at Clean Sheets. So consider this a sort of interim report on what we hope is your favorite magazine.

The Bookstore. We've run hot and cold here, but we're now running very, very hot. Thanks to new bookstore manager Kris Bierk (who is also a seasoned poetry editor), we have just piles and piles of new selections, and a new, easier-to-browse design. Kris is still working, so check back frequently, and let her know what you think (or what you'd like to see) by sending her mail at CS.bookstore@mindspring.com. Clean Sheets benefits when you click through from our bookstore to buy your erotic treasures, so please visit often!

The Archives. After nearly a year of publishing, the archives have grown to a stunning collection of fiction, poetry, nonfiction and art. Up to now, they've been free, but the economics of running Clean Sheets won't let us continue that, so as of October 1 you'll need to pay for a subscription to view them. It isn't much -- $10 for six months or $15 for a year -- and all of that goes for buying more great erotic writing to publish here. Go check out the archives for details.

The Clean Sheets Store. Our little guide to erotic toys is now a separate page, with many new things to come. For now, we're proud to announce that we've become an authorized Playboy Store Affiliate. There's a whole new world of toys, books, videos, DVD's, and lingerie, and Clean Sheets benefits when you click through from here and buy. Stop by often!

The Newsletter. Some of you may be wondering what happened to the newsletter; first it got erratic, then it got nonexistent. Well, that's entirely my fault; first I got insanely busy, even for me (I'm now teaching writing at the University of Utah, and editing two new anthologies), and then I dropped my computer. And busted it. So I'm now in the process of finding out whether it can be fixed, dragging data off of it (such as the newsletter mailing list), and considering whether I can afford to buy a new one. Please consider the newsletter on temporary hiatus due to technical difficulties.

Luckily, our fabulous staff is well able to carry on despite my personal computer limp. With Brian Peters, our incredible Managing Editor, coordinating, we've been running smoothly all year. Which leads us to the announcement of our upcoming:

First Anniversary Staff Issues! Join us in celebrating our first year of publishing with four all-staff issues in the month of October. See photos of your editors. Hear their innermost sexual secrets. Read the fiction and poetry they scrawl late at night, after the long hours of editing come to an end. It's our thank you to all the loyal Clean Sheets readers out there, and our celebration of an amazing first year. We're going to take the last week of this month off to prepare, but it will be worth the wait. See you then!

"Sadly, I'm writing to tell you about a tragedy that happened last night (Wed. evening 14 April). Annie Sprinkle's beautiful houseboat home in Sausalito, California was destroyed by fire."
