You may not think this poor play Shakespeare's best,
this tale of humans, fairies, tosséd to
and fro by merry Puck's sweet magic jest,
and yet, you must admit it's suited well
to an erotic twist or two: these lovers pressed
against the mossy ground, their eyes all drowned
in dust, until they know not who has messed
their hair, has slid warm hands beneath their skirts,
has wet their cocks or cunts, has moaned, all dressed
in stranger's skin, and lover's wild and fest-
ive airs, 'til man and maid collapse to sleep...
and that is fairy-made as well, their nest
a voyeur's dream; and then they'll change,
and change again -- the King commands, and lest
poor Puck be set to counting seeds, again
obeys -- how could a bard resist the test
of making this mad dream anew, so nine-
teen bards, I swear, mad but north by northwest,
have dressed this play in modern garb, and ramped
it up a notch; the Queen is in a leather vest,
and there's a cock between her thighs; Helena's
sucking there; fool Bottom has quite best-
ial traits; Demetrius wears a whip and hose...
I know, this may be hard to take -- just rest
between each tale, and let the words seduce,
your fingers roam; this is a dream, a jest,
as Puck might say, and if a sated smile
lies on your lips, admit -- this may be best
that words can offer, for an afternoon or so.
